Shelbe's Baby Shower

So this past weekend my mom and I had a baby shower for Shelbe. I've been to about 2 baby showers before and didn't really know what to plan. I came into town early friday evening and we ordered the cake, got the decorations, and set up. I wanted to find some games that weren't too cheesy. We played baby pictionary, "guess how big", guess date and weight, and this funny story-game when you hear the word left or right you had to pass a party gift that direction. We ate and she opened her gifts. It was a fun time; seeing all those cute outfits and toys made him that much more real to me. It was the next night and she was having contractions five minutes apart and she thought her water had broken, but it was a false alarm. Hopefully he will come soon.; my grandparents are coming down from Grand Junction for Thanksgiving. I know everyone is anxious to meet Brody.

October-ish

On October 2nd, Daniel ran the St. George Marathon in Utah, and did really well finishing 3:15:37. He's hoping the next marathon he runs he'll be able to qualify for the Boston Marathon, and for his age group that means running under 3:10:59.
My Birthday was on the 17th of October and we met my family in Denver and went to the Museum of Nature and Science. I can't believe I've never been there before. There are some amazing exhibits. We also watched the Hubble movie at the Imax. That movie made me feel so small and insignificant in our vast universe.
For Halloween Daniel dressed up as Steve Prefontaine, Emilia was a cute little ladybug, and I had a silver mask and silver dress... a silver something I guess. Daniel ran a 5k on campus in costume. He finished top 3 in his a group, got 3rd place for best costume, and Emilia got 2nd for best pet costume. That night we took a tour of all of the supernatural and bloody crime scenes of fort collins Old Town set up by one of the local museums. It was interesting; I got the chills when she told some of the stories.

August-ish

It's been a fast pace lately...
We got a puggle and named her Emilia in August. She's definitely been an adventure; she's so much fun and a lot of work. Fall Semester started and Daniel and I have both been working and keeping up with school work. I had a doctors appt to find out what was going on with my knee. Over the summer, I ran 4 miles on the treadmill without running for awhile, and for the next two weeks after that I was limping around because it hurt so bad. (This was right before we left for Florida) I was hoping I hadn't pulled or torn anything that wouldn't require surgery. The x-rays came back fine, and the doctor did some tests. I guess I have weak hips... and it's not that uncommon in women. I've been active all my life playing soccer and other sports that I didn't realize all the muscle I've lost over the last few years. He gave me some strength building exercises that would help take the pressure off my knees. Also in August, Daniel's parents and two of his brothers came to visit us and ran the Mountain Ave 1 mile. It was fun to have everyone come to Fort Collins for a few days and see our place.

skiing/Breck favorite memories

My little runner

As of right now Daniel has ran in more than 10 races. He started running in the winter of 2008, and he decided he was going to train for the Chicago Marathon! Since running the Chicago Marathon, he's done a half Ironman, several half marathons and ran things like Bolder Boulder a lot. Right now he's training for the St. George Marathon on Oct. 2, and is running in a 1 mile race with his family on Aug 12th.

Back in May, Daniel had and Half Ironman event in Florida, so we thought we'd try to make it our summer vacation too. We ended up renting a car and staying in Orlando. We had to be at the event by 4:00 am-gross. He did really well, finishing his 1.2 mile swim, 54 mile bike-ride, and 13 mile run in 6 and 1/2 hours! His goal was just to finish, but thats a pretty good time for a first-timer.
The next day we drove to Tampa to visit his grandparents and to see one of his friends from high school. We stayed the night, the went to the beach the next day, which was a blast. By the time we got home I was exhausted, we only put 1 driver on the rental car cause we are both under 25. We had a lot of fun and hope to make it back to Tampa soon.

first post

So right now Daniel and I are living in Fort Collins, CO. We're both going to CSU. I'm majoring in Economics, minoring in international development (only 3 semesters left!) and Daniel is most likely going to major in Art History, that or painting or graphic design. He wants to work in a gallery so whatever will allow him to do that and graduate as quickly as possible. I moved to Fort Collins Summer of 2009 from Grand Junction and Daniel has been here for a little over 2 years now. Right now I'm working at King Soopers in the pharmacy. I got certified almost a year ago. It's pretty stressful most of the time, but it's a good while-in-college job pay wise. Daniel works at Jimmy Johns delivering sandwiches. I hear it's like a party most of the time.
We have 2 cats Abelard and Jacques. I thought Abelard was a long-haired Siamese, but I've been informed those are called Himalayan cats. He's pretty cool, if you ever need someone to snuggle with for hours it's him. Jacques is pretty but the complete opposite of him. When Daniel first got her they told him that it was a boy, well at her doc check-up he told us it is a girl so we got her a pink collar and named her Jacqueline. She's tiny, feisty, and is the boss. So we dont get along very well.
